MSGA Introduces Two-Tier Player Program
To support its mission of growing the game of golf in Maine, the Maine State Golf Association is establishing a new, two tier player program for 2017.
Any player who has already registered for the 2017 Member Program has already been placed in the newly titled MSGA Championship Players Program. Otherwise, the cost of joining this tier is $30. Players in this tier must be members of a MSGA member club, and must be active on GHIN through that club. They are eligible to play in MSGA championships, and they can sign up for weekend events, senior events (age 55 and above), and mid-weeks.
The new tier-two player program is called MSGA Associate Players. This program costs $125 and is intended for Maine golfers under the age of 40 (will not be 40 in 2017) who do not belong to a club and do not have GHIN. The program includes enrollment in GHIN directly through the MSGA, and players in this tier are eligible to play in MSGA weekend events, but not championships. If invited by a Championship tier player, they can play in mid-weeks, but they canít sign up for a tee time in those events.
It is hoped that their enthusiasm for the game of golf will motivate Associate Players to join a member club in the near future, as their individual circumstances permit.
